Flexible, Renewable Medical Insurance for Travel or Living Abroad
Overview
WorldMedTM Insurance is your
affordable solution!
WorldMedTM is designed for people who are traveling outside their
home country from 15 days to four years, providing high limit illness
and accident expense protection for a reasonable cost.
If you are injured or become ill while abroad, you can rely on
WorldMedTM to reimburse you for your covered medical expenses.
Major expenses can be paid directly to the medical or evacuation
provider. You pay the deductible and coinsurance if applicable.
WorldMedTM also provides you with 24-hour access to emergency
assistance services which can help refer you to local doctors or
hospitals, provide multilingual interpretation, arrange your emergency
medical evacuation, keep in touch with your physician and family
back home, and more.
International medical care can become
a major expense to your family.
Traveling or living abroad can be an exciting, fulfilling experience.
However, every year many people visiting foreign countries require
emergency medical treatment, hospitalization, or medical evacuation
to their home countries.
A major illness or injury could cost you US$100,000 or more, and a
medical evacuation as much as US$100,000 (Asia to the U.S.). For
most families, this would cause a severe financial strain.
Your present insurance may not pay for
international expenses.
Traveling U.S. residents will find that Medicare and most Medicare
supplement plans offer little or no protection outside the U.S. Further,
many U.S. medical policies, HMO’s and PPO’s provide limited
international benefits, and most do not pay for medical evacuations.
Visitors to the U.S. will find that doctors and hospitals may not accept
insurance issued in a foreign country and direct claims payment may
be unavailable. Benefit limits may also be inadequate.

Your benefit limit will not be reduced if you choose to be treated outside the MultiPlan Network, however you may incur higher out-of-pocket costs. Outbound: Traveling Outside the U.S. Yes. Outside the U.S., WorldMed does not use a Preferred Provider Network. Therefore, you may use any doctor or hospital when you need medical care. No. A Pre-Existing Condition is defined as, "any injury or illness which was contracted or which manifested itself, or for which treatment or medication was prescribed within three years for Inbound insureds and six months for Outbound insureds prior to the effective date of this insurance." See WorldMed’s Description of Coverage for a complete list of exclusions. 14. What is "Home Country Coverage"? Home Country Coverage, available in WorldMed Plans A and B, is for eligible medical expenses incurred while the insured is back visiting in their home country while still insured under the policy. Coverage is limited to $50,000 or 30 days, whichever is less. Eligible medical expenses are those eligible expenses associated with an accident or illness that has occurred during the insured's temporary stay inside their Home Country. Coverage is subject to the deductible and co-insurance as stated in the Accident and Sickness Medical Expense Benefit. 15. Is it safe to purchase WorldMed Insurance online? Yes. We work closely with our programmers to keep our forms in a highly secure ordering environment so you can enroll in our travel insurance plans with confidence. We use Secure Socket Layers (SSL), the industry standard in transferring information to process your orders. The SSL encrypts, or translates, your order information into a highly indecipherable code, which is processed immediately. When you are ready to enroll in one of our plans, you will move into the secure area of our site. A warning window may pop up to notify you that you are entering this "safe" area. Once you've entered, the beginning of the page address (URL) will change from “http” to “https”, to let you know you are in a secure area. Also, a key or a closed padlock icon will appear in the lower right corner of most browsers to notify you of this change. You will remain in this secure zone for the entire purchase process. 16. If I decide not to take my trip, may I cancel my insurance and receive a refund of premium? Yes. You may cancel your insurance prior to your effective date and receive a premium refund, less a $20 processing fee. Please follow the instructions in Current Clients section. 17. Am I eligible for a partial refund if I return home before my policy expires? No. After the effective date of coverage, the Insurance Company considers the premium fully earned and non-refundable. (This is noted in the Enrollment Agreement when you purchase online.) Refunds are permitted only before coverage starts (see question #16). 18. After I submitted my Enrollment online, I realized I entered the wrong Effective Date. What should I do? Send any corrections to us in writing by email, fax or mail and we will confirm the changes. When sending correspondence, please include a daytime phone number and reference your Online Order Transaction number. Please refer to the instructions in the Current Clients section. If the correction results in an increase in premium, please submit check or credit card payment by fax or mail. When sending credit card details, please include the number, expiration date and a statement authorizing Travel Insurance Services to charge the additional amount.
